1st Dash on the N73Hey, what’s happening?
The 1st Dash on the N73 is an exciting opportunity for people of all ages to walk or run the N73 before it reopens to traffic. It is being organised by Ballygown School Parents’ Association.
A section of the N73 (Mallow-Mitchelstown) road near our school has been closed for months to facilitate a major upgrade. Now we are so fortunate to have the permission of the contractors, Sorensens, and Cork County Council to welcome everyone to join our whole school community for a fun walk/run. Sorensens are our main sponsor and they are pulling out all the stops (literally) to make sure this will be a huge success.
Wow, when is this?
The 1st Dash on the N73 will take place at noon (that’s 12.00 p.m. folks) on Sunday, November 17th. Come along to the start any time from 11.00 to enjoy the entertainment and join in the warm-up.
Say where and I’ll be there
The start line is on the N73 at RT Lane Recruitment P51 AW26. There will be access from the Mallow side (Oliver’s Cross) and parking will be available near the assembly area. Alternatively there will be parking available on the N73 close to Ballygown School.
I have a dodgy knee. Will I be able for it?
It’s just 4 km from the start to Ballygown School. Perfect for a Sunday stroll, or a run if you’re feeling energetic! You’ll be swept along on a wave of fun and chatter, with refreshments for everyone to keep up those sugar levels. There will be a welcome like no other at the school with a party atmosphere that will make you feel like doing it all over again. But there’s really only one chance to do this, so don’t miss it! Pull on those runners, grab the buggy (preferably with a wee child aboard) or the zimmer frame and join the fun. And remember the N73 will be brand new so you’ll simply float along.
Someone mentioned a celebrity. Is this true?
You bet! Donncha O’Callaghan, everyone’s favourite Munster and Ireland rugby star and TV/Radio presenter, will be at the start line to get us all warmed up and to send us on our way. It’s your big chance to get a selfie with Donncha!
