Gentlemen ...Once again the 1st Battalion, 4th Regiment has been extended an invitation to anchor the 161st Anniversary of “THE BREAKTHROUGH” on historic grounds which hold national significance southwest of Petersburg Va. Camp as it was last year will be located outside the Education Center . This will be our arrival/parking point for the event. NOT AT THE HART FARM CABINS AND BARN! The Education Center address is 6523 Duncan Road, Petersburg, Virginia. You may arrive after 2pm, ample parking is available, and it is extremely close to the camps/demo areas. The road gates will be closed but unlocked/dummy locked. Simply raise the hasp, swing the gate open, close it behind you, drive down to our Education Center, link up with a Pamplin rep (one or more of my guys will be down there).
The all day programming for the 161th will take place in the surrounding educational area. This is an absolute unique opportunity for the Battalion to camp where Lane's Tar Heels were sleeping exactly 161 years ago. Uniforms and gear should accurately reflect the Army of Northern Virgina 1864-1865 issue
Dog Tents, flies, highly encouraged and plenty of space for a couple of company streets. Bricks/rocks will be provided to build and supplement the two existing fire rings in camp now. They do have limited firewood, but not an enormous amount. If you can bring some additional cooking wood that would be very helpful.
We also can forage in the woods for firewood if need be.
As on any Battlefield, no digging of fire pits, use the rocks and bricks to encircle the fire pit and bring tins for your cartridge box!
An extensive schedule will follow.
Supper on Saturday night and Coffee will be provided. A participation fee of $20.00 is requested. This will go to cover our meal and allow the Battalion to make a donation to Pamplin Park in memory of the North Carolina citizen solider. Our support is crucial in continuing to maintain this National Historic Battlefield.
Fees may be sent via Pay Pal to [email protected]. Or PM me for my home address. All fees should be received by COB March 22nd, 2026. I sincerely hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity extended to our Battalion!
