About this Event
The Friday reception will be at the Pamplin Historical Park & The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier and includes a tour of the museum, heavy hors d'oeuvres and beer/wine bar and some lively entertainment.
The conference will be held on Saturday at Pamplin Historical Park's Education Center. The day is all about audience participation in topics such as the value of community partnerships, recruitment marketing to targeted age groups, the importance of organizational culture, the meaning and value of sustainability, and your CWRT experiences dealing with post-pandemic challenges.
Saturday evening will include an awards dinner and a presentation by living historian Dr. Curt Fields as Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant.
Sunday will feature two separate tours.
The first tour will be about the Petersburg siege line and begins a 9am. It will be led by Will Greene. It includes
- Battery Five
- Fort Stedman, and
- The Crater.
The second tour will be about City Point and begin at 1:30pm and will be led by Curt Fields. It includes:
- The Eppes Mansion
- General Grant's headquarters.
FRIDAY
The recption will be held at the Museum. Register your atendance and receive your conference credentials, visit the museum of the Civil War Soldier, and meet new and old friends while sipping on an adult beverage. Be sure to meet up with your favorite author, purchase a book and have it autographed.
SATURDAY
The Saturday conference will be held in the Education Center and includes breakfast snacks, a box lunch, and opportunities to learn about practices for a sustainable CWRT. There will be plenty of time to network with others.
SATURDAY AWARDS DINNER
The CWRT Congress awards dinner will be held in the main museum building and will feature a presentation by Lt. General Ulysses S. Grant about his experiences at Petersburg.
SUNDAY TOURS
There will be a morning tour and an afternoon tour:
- The morning tour will be of the Petersburg Siege line tour with A. Wilson Greene and visit Battery 5, Fort Stedman, and the Crater.
- The afternoon tour will be at City Point where you will meet living historian Dr. Curt Fields at General Grant's headquarters cabin and tour the Appomattox Manor (Eppes Plantation House).

Info: Individual vehicles drive to a three site tour conducted by A. Wilson Greene. Visit Battery Five, Fort Stedman, and the Crater to learn about what happened there, the objectives of army commanders and its significance. There will be plenty opportunities for your questions.

Info: Meet General Grant at his headquarters. Learn about the logistics involved in serving the Union Army, the significance of City Point, and the major issues Grant faced. Also, tour Eppes Plantation Mansion with the NPS.
