19th Annual Family Day Celebration on Governors Island
About this Event
Join the Trust for Governors Island and AFF for a day filled with fun and culture! People of all ages are invited to enjoy a variety of free activities, including storytelling, double-dutch, dance and drum workshops led by world-renowned instructors, arts and crafts, and a selection of short films, all celebrating Africa and the diaspora.

12:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Textile Art Workshop with Elan Ferguson & Harlem Needle Arts
1:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Selected Short Films
1:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Storytelling & Double Dutch with Malika Lee Whitney
1:00 PM - 2:15 PM: Afro-Brazilian Dance Class with Aledra Floyd & Grupo Ribeiro
2:30 PM – 3:45 PM: Senegalese Sabar Dance Class with Babacar M’baye & Sing Sing Rhythm
4:00 PM – 5:15 PM: Guinean Dance Class with Maguette Camara & Les Merveilles de Guinea
All Day: Soul Food by The Foodie Spot
All activities will take place at Nolan Park.
