"For more than two centuries, America and its oldest ally, France, have been the world’s two brightest beacons of democracy. French intervention in the American Revolution was crucial to securing American independence from Britain. But how and why did the French decide to commit to the American alliance? Join the Alliance Française of Mobile on August 26, the anniversary of the French Revolution’s 1789 Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen, for a glimpse at the American Revolution from a different point of view: the French reaction to America’s Declaration of Independence."
Dr. Harris, a Fairhope native and University of South Alabama alumnus, received his PhD in history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2020. He is a historian of 18th-century France and the French colonial empire.
This is a free public event with a suggested donation of $5. Please feel free to share with friends and family.
