About this Event
Please read all of the information below before RSVP'ing and before posting questions.
The dates listed for this event are the days entries will be accepted at the gallery (see other important dates below). You may drop off your work on March 1st from 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. If you are unavailable on this date, you will need to make arrangements to drop off your pieces with Cas at Academy Frame. We will need volunteers to help with intake. There will be a separate Meetup event for the reception.
Our 15th annual gallery show will hang for the month of March at Academy Frame on N. Academy in the Springs.
The show will be limited to at total of 80 pieces (up to 2 per participant) and the cost of entry is $25 per person. The money collected will be used for prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. It will also pay for food at the reception and for our judge. Any extra will be applied to our Meetup fees.
We will not have a theme, so entries are open to any type of photography except AI-generated images. Photos do not have to be taken in Colorado.
Our judge this year is TBD.
Your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, title, price and location the photo was taken (optional) need to be on the back of each piece. You can put this information on a piece of paper and tape it to the back.
Prizes:
Cash prizes will be awarded, and the amounts will be based on the total number of participants:
1st Place - $TBD
2nd Place - $TBD
3rd Place - $TBD
Digitally manipulated photography is OK as are canvas wraps, metal prints and any other form of printing. AI-generated images will not be accepted. The outside dimensions of your pieces can be no larger than 30"x40" and there needs to be a wire on the back for hanging. Hanging hardware must be attached to the frame, not the backing. Sawtooth hangers will not be accepted. Academy Frame will attach wire to your frame if needed (and possible) for a small fee. These arrangements should be made prior to the drop-off date.
Read Academy Frame's display criteria here: http://www.academyframesco.com/artist-submission-guidelines
Participants will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis (there is no jury process) and entry fees will be collected via PayPal. You will be responsible for dropping off your work at Academy Frame on the intake date as well as picking it up on the pick-up date. Any special arrangements need to be coordinated with Academy Frame.
All entries should be priced to sell. Academy Frame takes a 30% commission on all sales, so price your items accordingly to cover the commission. If you are unsure of how to price your entries, a good place to start is to double the cost of printing and framing and add enough to cover the commission.
We realize that this will be the first time for many to display their work in public and will need help preparing their prints. If you have questions, please ask.
We have several resources available to help you to prepare your prints for this show:
If you print your own photos, inkjet papers are available through Mike Pach at [adventurecamphoto.com](https://adventurecamphoto.com/)
If you need prints made, see Kathleen McFadden at Range Gallery or Vic Jubber at Automated Photo Technology.
Kim at Academy Frame also gives our members a discount on framing.
