The 1st Annual David Ruback Memorial Golf Tournament was established to honor the late David Ruback. “Coach Dave” was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer on April 17, 2012. The
disease was just too far along for any type of treatment to help and
Dave passed away on May 22, 2012. Dave was 56 years old, married and the father of two adult sons. His immediate family now includes his wife Marcy, son Joe and daughter—in-law Liz, grandsons William, Connor, Ellie Rose and son K.C.
David was the President of Radio Engineering Industries, a volunteer coach of the two-time national champion Nebraska Red Dawgs Junior Wheelchair Basketball Team and the five- time national champion Nebraska Junior Barons Wheelchair Softball
Team, and also served as Treasurer of the Nebraska Chapter of Make-A-Wish.
David Ruback was the classic example of that commitment. His tireless devotion to the kids will never be forgotten.
K.C. Ruback, Dave’s son, completed his playing career with the Nebraska Red Dawgs in 2006. Even though his son no longer competed for the team, Dave continued his association with the Nebraska program and helped coach them to NWBA National Championships in 2008 (Junior Division Prep and Junior Division
Invitational Tournaments) and Junior Division Varsity Championships in 2011 and 2012.
His leadership is seen in all aspects of the Nebraska program, from coaching to recruitment and fundraising.
This tournament will allow individuals and companies to gather once per year to honor this great man and all he did to help kids with disabilities flourish. All proceeds from the tournament will go to help our parent organization NAS (Nebraska Adaptive Sports) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
We appreciate you taking the time to consider our event knowing there are many fundraising opportunities and events you have the option of choosing.
From all the kids, parents, NAS Board of Directors and athletes . . . Thank You!
