12th International Day of Yoga celebration event in Houston

he Consulate General of India in Houston proudly announces its celebration in honor of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with a variety of statewide community yoga events during the month of June. On Saturday, June 20, The Consulate General of India, Houston will be hosting their main International Day of Yoga event at Midtown Park for a public gathering of yoga, peace and mindfulness from 6 to 8 p.m.

On Sunday, June 21, the Consulate General of India supports various events with Fit Houston, UNIONisCREATION and Hindus of Greater Houston, the celebration will continue at George Bush Park starting at 7 a.m. with a yoga session and 5K walk. There will also be over 30 other yoga events across the city at multiple locations, culminating in a final public yoga session from 6 to 8 p.m. at Discovery Green followed by Sunset Labyrinth Walk & Community Sound Bath from 8 to 9 p.m. 

Additionally, during the month of June, there will be a series of virtual and in-person free sessions in Houston for all yoga levels, even including “chair yoga” for seniors, starting on Monday, June 1.  More information can be found at SVYASA Houston, a registered non-profit organization dedicated to promoting health, happiness, and peace in society through education, research, and service in yoga. Finally, there will also be a Spanish-speaking yoga class for the public on Monday, June 15 at Discovery Green beginning at 6:30 p.m.
