11am Upper Winchester Guided Walking Tour

Join one of Winchester's official tourist guides for this1½ hour walking tour of the historical sites in the upper part of the city. The tour will commence at the Visitor Information Centre and pass along the historic High Street up to the Westgate. You will pass the Great Hall on the original Winchester Castle site and see King Charles II Palace. The Tour will include the Great Hall to see the Round Table. (£1.50 admission charge included in tour ticket price.)

Occasionally the tour will not include a visit to The Great Hall due to the venue being closed. If this occurs £1.50 will be refunded per ticket to cover the tour entry price to the Great Hall within 14 days following the tour.

Please bear in mind that the upper part of Winchester is fairly steep . The tour will include some steps although this can be adapted if necessary.

The tour will take place rain or shine so please dress appropriately and wear sensible footwear.

Dogs on leads are generally welcome on the tours but if you are considering bringing a dog, please do contact the VIC before booking to ensure that the tour leader is happy with the arrangement. Dogs are not allowed inside The Great Hall.

January - end of March 2024: Tours will run on Saturdays at 11am.

Pricing:

Adult Ticket - £12.50

Child Ticket - Free for under 16s. You will need to undertake a separate second transaction to the one used to purchase the adult tickets in your group. When booking for the children select the number of children's tickets you require under general admission category, enter the promotional code CHILDFREE and click apply. This allows the tickets to be purchased for free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Carer Ticket - Tickets for an essential carer are free. You will need to undertake a separate second transaction to the one used to purchase the other tickets for your group. Please select one ticket under general admission category, enter the promotional code CARERFREE and click apply. This allows the tickets to be purchased for free.

T ickets can be bought via Eventbrite until 9am on the morning of the tour. After this any remaining tickets can be purchased in the Visitor Information Centre.
