Fusion Connection presents back to back beginner and intermediate Fusion partner dance workshops! Anna Durga and Alex Coffman return as your instructors.Fusion partner dance is a dance form without borders. Fusion has no predetermined steps or patterns unlike every other partner dance out there. It's where partner dance is stripped down to the most essential parts, and rebuilt in a new way every dance. This is where all partner dance styles meet!
You do not need to bring a partner with you. The class will rotate partners. Bring comfortable support shoes that have minimal tread, or hard bottoms. Bring a water bottle, drinking fountains are located outside the dance studio.
The beginner workshop is for you if you've never done partner dancing before, or even have a bit of experience. It's also for those with a background in another partner dance form who want to experience the melting pot of Fusion dance. It's for experienced dancers who want to switch their usual lead/follow dance role up and learn the other side.
The intermediate workshop is for dancers with some experience in partner dance. It's also for people who felt confident in the beginner workshop and would like to keep learning. You will have the option to add the intermediate workshop after the beginner event.
Format:
Beginner's Workshop 5-7PM
5-6:30PM Instruction Beginner Workshop
6:30-7PM Dance practice w/classmates and instructors
Intermediate Workshop 6:30-9PM
6:30-7PM Optional Dance practice warm up w/beginners
7-8:30PM Instruction Intermediate Workshop
8:30-9PM Dance practice w/classmates and instructors
The beginner's workshop will cover
*Lead/follow roles
*Dancing to the rhythm of the music
*Timing
*Creating turns
*How to frame your body
Students will be introduced to sharing weight with their dance partner in preparation for lifts and dips. We will culminate in an infinite repeater inside roll to really get your partner moving!
The intermediate workshop builds on the first. We'll start with the infinite inside roll and add some fun rotational exits. The majority of the workshop we will learn various dips and lifts!
$25 IN ADVANCE
$30 DAY OF/AT THE DOOR
$40 BOTH WORKSHOPS
(Confident beginner workshop attendees may choose to add the intermediate workshop for $15 at the end of the first workshop.)

Anna Durga is a long time Fusion dancer and has taught Fusion classes in Nevada County for years. She is owner of Durga Method, a bodywork and body movement holistic health practice.

Alex Coffman has been instructing somatic movement for most of his life. From swimming lessons, to Qi-Gong, Yoga classes and dance classes. He is cohost of Fusion Connection. He brings forth his years of practice as a West Coast Swing and Fusion dancer to his classes.
The workshop will be in the usual location at Universe City Dance Studio inside Bodhi Hive.
