The Iditarod Trail Invitational is a self supported winter ultramarathon, from Knik Lake to Nome Alaska. A distance of 1000-miles (1609 kilometers) that can be traveled by foot, ski or by bike. Chloë Lanthier and Gavan Hennigan combined have over ten finishes and have each won the event in their respective category. A fascinating and inspiring discussion. Chloë and Gavan will share the importance of a meticulous preparation, acquiring the appropriate skills, and the physical, environmental and mental challenges encounter on the Iditarod Trail – by bike for Chloë and on foot for Gavan. One of the most grueling experiences an endurance athlete can have in such a hostile, isolated and cold environment. The event demands total self-sufficiency, sharp decision making, adaptability, immense resistance to fatigue, and considerable resilience to survive the very long freezing cold nights.

Gavan will share intense and extraordinary stories from this past winter foot traverse across Alaska. Traveling the Iditarod Trail for over 30 days, in temperatures that can drop to -55 Celcius.
