About this Event
Tongass Critter Care & Gold Town Theater are teaming up to host this cartoon classic, Balto! The story of how a team of sled dogs saved the town of Nome, Alaska during a 1925 Diphtheria outbreak, and how names like Balto and Togo* became nationally famous.
Join us to commemorate 100+ years of dog mushing through acknowledgment of Alaskan Culture , in collaboration with Balto's 30th Movie Anniversary - While also aligning with the finishing days of the Annual Iditarod!
*While we understand Togo undertook the larger part of this "Great Race of Mercy" , Togo's movie has shown to be an adventure packed, dramatized live-action, with heavy emotions and animal injuries in play, which we feel should be shown with viewer descresion.
*We aim to provide this family-friendly event to promote and celebrate Alaskan history, and highlight the importance of Animal care - wild or domestic! Though please note we may provide another event for Togo later this Fall, so keep an eye out for updates!
