Can we all agree that this week’s heat has been absolutely brutal? 🥵🔥
As owners, we do everything we can to keep our bunnies cool - ice bottles, frozen tiles, fans, damp towels, fresh water… but somehow it still never feels like enough. 😔💔
Rabbits naturally cool themselves by lying with their bellies against cool surfaces. The problem? Their bellies are covered in thick fur too.
With my mission of improving rabbit welfare across South Yorkshire, I’d love to help as many bunnies as possible stay comfortable this summer. 🌿💚
💚 Summer Bunny Belly Shave Campaign 💚
From now until the second week of August (before I go on holiday), I’m offering belly shaves for just a £2 cash donation.
Every penny donated will be split equally between:
🐰 Thornberry Animal Sanctuary
🐰 Andrea Hawson, who rescues and rehabilitates local rabbits.
Whether your bunny is a tiny Netherland Dwarf, a fluffy Mini Lop or a huge Continental Giant, they’ll receive a gentle belly shave to help them stay cooler during the warmer weather. 🥰
How does it work?
1️⃣ Send me a message with proof that your bunny is vaccinated (Myxomatosis, RHD1 & RHD2).
2️⃣ I’ll send you a registration link.
3️⃣ We’ll book you into a 20-minute weekend appointment.
4️⃣ Your slot is confirmed.
5️⃣ Bring your bunny along for their gentle belly shave.
6️⃣ Donate your £2, knowing you’ve helped both your bunny and local rescue rabbits. 🩷
A few important things
🐰 Belly shaves are carried out only if I believe they’re suitable for your rabbit. Welfare will always come first.
🐰 This campaign is intended for otherwise clean, healthy rabbits. If your bunny arrives with a soiled bottom, urine scald, heavy matting or requires hygiene clipping, this will be classed as a Small Job rather than a belly shave, as these conditions require considerably more time and care.
🐰 This is not a full groom. If I notice anything that may need attention (mats, overgrown nails, blocked scent glands or other welfare concerns), I’ll happily discuss it with you during your appointment.
🐰 Appointment spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
