🟠🟠What to expect🟠🟠
🔸For noon, meet at the modernist Lakewood Garden Mausoleum.. inside the main entrance (@Hennepin & 36th) it's the first mausoleum after turning right.
🔸For the 3pm wrap-up, we will meet at the Lakewood Garden Mausoleum again. 🔸Restrooms at the Garden Mausoleum are on the main floor, as are drinking fountains. The crypt is in the basement.
🔸🔸As always, exercise respect for the spaces and other visitors🔸🔸
The historic Lakewood Cemetery is an incredible space with beautiful buildings, landscaping, and of course, monuments.
🔸🔸Remember one stipulation of sketching here is that specific monument drawings are not be used for commercial purposes, as the monuments themselves are the properties of families and individuals.🔸🔸
The mausoleums ARE open, and are not only equipped with restrooms, but are extraordinary spaces themselves, with fully furnished reception areas.
🔸Wear comfortable shoes, or more likely, prepare to drive about. (To walk the entire cemetery would take approx. 3 hours just by itself.)
🔸🔸If the weather is wet, perhaps consider sketching the views from the warmth of the Garden Mausoleum🔸🔸
🔸You can park anywhere on the paved roads. If you have one, you'll want to bring a portable chair for yourself, maybe a blanket for your legs.. warm apple cider sounds good too. Sketchers tip: wear weather-appropriate layers.
***Please note, bikers: bicycles are NOT allowed in the cemetery.***
Those who live far away or can't make it that day are encouraged to visit a historic cemetery near you and share your drawings with us!

Dogs and other pets are not allowed anywhere onsite at Lakewood. Service animals are permitted.
