Young was an influential American businessman and diplomat, best known as a founder of General Electric and a key figure in international diplomacy during the early 20th century. Alongside him was his wife, Louise Young, whose vision, creativity, and passion for gardening transformed their winter retreat into a stunning blend of formal gardens, native plantings, and timeless beauty. Together, their dedication and care laid the foundation for what would become Washington Oaks Gardens State Park.
