Join us at The Word Central Library for an exhilarating day of Blitz Chess hosted by South Shields Chess Club! All chess enthusiasts are invited to participate in this Fide Rated competition. Don't worry if you don't have a FIDE Reference number; all we need is your Date of Birth.📅 Date: Sunday 7th July 2024
⏰ Time: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM (with a lunch break) (we will be there from 10:00 am)
📍 Venue: The Word Central Library, THE ROUND (top floor exhibition area), with breathtaking views overlooking the Tyne River. The building is fully accessible, with lifts to the 4th Floor.
To ensure your spot, we recommend booking in advance as we have a limit of up to 50 players. This event promises an intense 9-round competition filled with thrilling chess battles.
💰 Prize Money (subject to actual number of entries on the day):
1st Prize: £150
2nd Prize: £100
3rd Prize: £50
2 x Grading Prizes: £30 (cut-offs to be decided on the day according to entry)
Junior (U18) Prize: £20
Senior (S65) Prize: £20
Maximum of one prize per entrant.
⏱️ Time Control: 5+2 (game in 5 minutes with a 2-second increment)

Option to pay CASH on the day, but please inform us in advance if you are entering.
Alternatively, you can choose to pay by bank transfer prior to the event to save time. Bank details will be provided later.
🅿️ Free Parking: The Mill Dam Car Park, located across from The Customs House. Please note that while some bays have a 3-hour limit, most do not. Choose your parking spot carefully.
