Sounds of Survival is a community healing experience that brings together music, education, and food to honor National Mental Health Awareness Month and National Stroke Awareness Month. This event is presented in partnership with Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), highlighting the connection between culture, community, and whole‑person health.
On Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 2:00 PM, join us for an afternoon of rhythm, reflection, and resilience. The program will feature mental health professionals sharing practical tools for coping with stress, trauma, and everyday life, along with MVHS representatives offering vital information on stroke warning signs, prevention, and recovery resources in our community. Throughout the event, we’ll explore how music can support our mental, spiritual, and emotional well‑being, and how it can even play a role in stroke recovery.
Guests will experience an interactive jam session and community orchestra~led by Doc Woods, Dr. Duss (DJ), and local entertainers, inviting everyone—musicians and non‑musicians—to participate in creating a powerful sound together. The afternoon will close with an [Open Mic]for testimonies, poetry, rap, and song, giving space for real stories of survival and hope.
Registration is $15 per person, which includes a meal and an event T‑shirt, Come eat, learn, move, and heal with us as we create the Sounds of Survival together.
