🌿 Ponderosa Nature Tour: Paddle Beneath the Ancient Giants 🌳 Second Year Annual🗓️ Saturday, February 21st | 🕙 Meet: 10:00 AM
Ready for a peaceful, scenic paddle surrounded by towering trees, local wildlife, and calm bayou vibes? Join us for a relaxed out and back adventure on the beautiful waters of Luce Bayou.
📍 Launch Location:

💵 Parking and Launch Fee: $7 cash only
This supports the local landowner who keeps the area maintained with fresh cut grass, porta potties, and safe parking while everyone is on the water. Please bring exact change and drop it in the envelope box on site.
🕙 Arrival and Gear Up:
Plan to be ready to go at 10:00 AM so we can gather everyone and head out together.
🌳 Ancient Trees and Natural Wonders
You will paddle through breathtaking corridors of bald cypress, some believed to be over 1,000 years old. Their famous knees rise from the water and create a calm, almost sacred feeling as you move through the bayou.
🦅 Birdwatching Hotspot
You might see
• Great blue herons
• Snowy egrets
• Belted kingfishers
• Ospreys
• Pileated woodpeckers
🐢 Turtle Watch
Keep an eye out for red eared sliders and softshell turtles resting on logs or popping up beside your board. They are always fun to spot.
What to Bring:
✅ SUP or kayak
✅ USCG approved PFD
✅ Water and snacks
✅ Sunblock and mosquito spray
✅ Dry bag or waterproof pouch
✅ $7 cash for parking
🧻 Restroom Info:
There are porta potties available, but grabbing a quick stop at a gas station before arriving is always smart.
🍽️ Post Paddle Lunch. Keep the good times rolling.
After loading up, head over to El Jimador Mexican Grill and Bar, a family owned favorite just minutes away. They always take great care of our group and the meals never disappoint.
