Kia ora e te whΔnau We warmly extend invitation for all to join us for a day of celebration, good kai and korero in the rays of Te Ra (the sun) for a pre holiday season community catch up as Te Ra stops briefly at the apex of his journey marking the longest day of the year
At the solstice, the solar goddess Hine Raumati sends Te Ra on his journey back to winter, and to symbolize this Aaron will construct a solar spiral made of bamboo and a central solar effigy to symbolize the circular journey of Te Ra as he moves between the seasons for us to walk through.
Hine Raumati sends her spring flowers with Te Ra for his journey, so bring a flower or two and together we can enshrine the effigy with flowers and build a beautiful community flower shrine!
from 12pm onwards we will set up the p.a and have the wonderful djs Carlotta, Scarlett and Oaariki play for us as well as some other local selectors and enjoy the sunshine together
