Matthew is the founder of Brighter Blooms, established in 2010 at Walton Flats Nursery, Walton-le-Dale, Preston, Lancashire. He has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality bulbs and creating eye-catching horticultural displays at major UK flower shows.Tulips are a major focus for Brighter Blooms each spring, with their popular “Tulip Open Weekends” showcasing extensive displays — often featuring more than 60 different cultivars. From bold, vibrant bedding schemes to soft, naturalistic planting, tulips are incredibly versatile. They can be grown in borders, pots and containers, woven through perennial planting, used to brighten up patios and doorsteps, or planted en masse for real spring impact. With such a wide range of colours, heights, and flowering times available, they offer endless creative possibilities for gardens of all sizes.
Matthew’s horticultural work has been widely recognised, with numerous Gold Medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, including the prestigious Queen's Platinum Jubilee Award in 2022.
