The Summer heat in Magan-djin brings with it a heady blend of sweltering humidity, lush sun-kissed memories, and a slight delirium that gets people all hot and bothered (in the good way).As a healing balm to any heat-related afflictions, we’ve decided to throw a party to celebrate this extra special moment in the year: when Summer flings are in full force, the days are long and languorous, and all you need is a dip in the pool and a sausage in some bread to set the whole world right.
That’s right! Shandy has joined forces once again with echo & bounce to serve up a slice of mid-Summer fun in the Courtyard - before descending to the basement as twilight hits for a sweat-fuelled frenzy we like to call…

After wowing crowds down on Bundjalung country with a mind-blowing closing set for the Tropical Fruits NYD Pool Party, we can’t wait to host ketia in Magan-djin/Brisbane for what is sure to be a night for the history books.
Ketia traverses genres, community, and oceans with her unique and versatile approach to the decks - ultimately guided by a deeply held commitment to the beauty of the rave.
With a keen ear for new and exciting music, alongside a curious, invested approach to community-building within the club scene; ketia insists on mixing as many genres as possible with a promise of bangers only.
From the chaos of the legendary kit ket nights in Lisbon to holding down residencies at CLUB RAUM, Joyride, and kwia in Berlin, Ketia’s sets represent a harmonious blend of precision, groove, and pure emotional release - with the ability to turn a dancefloor inside out while simultaneously keeping it tender.
They build community the same way they build a set: with intention, curiosity, and a lot of heart.
We couldn’t think of anyone more perfect to close out the evening, as they deliver a three hour set from 10pm - close (1am) in the Refuge Basement.

💸 TICKETS/ENTRY FEE 💸
Entry fee on the door is $15 before 7PM, and $20 after – but as always:
~ there is free entry for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples & Trans Women (Femme Queens) of Colour; and
~ we will do what we can to accommodate & welcome anyone with no/low income who wants to party - shoot us a message on the Shandy Facebook page or Instagram and we'll work something out with you.

🎵 NOTES FOR THE EVENING 🎶
~ As always, try not to assume gender, sexuality, or pronouns – if you’re chatting and vibing with someone, you might wanna briefly ask for their pronouns - and don’t make it into big deal if you get ‘em wrong: just say a quick sorry and move it along.
~ Consent is key – ask before touching and await a clear response; fuck yes or no thank you!
~ Be respectful and considerate – do your bit to make the space safer and more comfortable for others: a party is only as good as the people attending, and we all have a role to play in having the best night ever!
~ Racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, or transphobic behaviour/attitudes will not be tolerated. Please see Shandy team members, barstaff or security if someone is making you uncomfortable.
~ We want people to feel as safe and welcome as possible, so please feel free to message the Shandy Instagram or Facebook page with any queries or concerns.

♿️👁 ACCESS 👂🔊
~ The venue is wheelchair accessible to the courtyard, however is not wheelchair accessible to the other spaces. The main bar is accessed from one short flight of stairs, the basement is an additional flight of stairs from the bar down, and the loft spaces are accessible from two-flights of external stairs from the courtyard.
~ Strobe lights will not be used during the event and we endeavour to ensure no strobe effect will be used in any lighting design on the night.
~ With regard to sensory concerns, the venues' different spaces vary in size, with the basement having a low ceiling and low lighting, while the loft spaces have high ceilings but limited airflow. The courtyard will be available throughout the night as a lower-sensory space, however music will be playing in this area until approximately midnight.
