Yuchen Jin is a musical artist and stand-up comedian based in Shanghai. He has performed bamboo clapper rap at venues around the world, including New York’s Lincoln Center, Boston’s John Hancock Hall, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Center, and on national TV in China. He is known for blending bamboo clappers and guitar to create a unique live looping experience for audiences. In addition to his artistic endeavors, he is also an investor in education and technology, and the founder of AlphaCademy and AlphaLink. A graduate of the Wharton School, he currently serves as a vice president of the Wharton Club of Beijing.

靳宇辰是一位活跃在上海的音乐人和单口喜剧演员。他曾在世界各地的舞台表演快板，包括纽约林肯中心、波士顿约翰·汉考克音乐厅、上海大剧院、上海话剧艺术中心，以及中国的国家电视台。他以将快板与吉他融合，创造独特的现场循环表演体验见长。除了艺术创作之外，他还是一位教育与科技领域的投资人以及AlphaCademy与AlphaLink的创始人。作为沃顿商学院的毕业生，他现任沃顿北京校友会副会长。

Performance Program

This performance is a carefully designed blend of Chinese bamboo clapper rap, American music, and the creative use of loop station arrangements that bring the two traditions together. The program is organized into three sets, each highlighting a different aspect of this cultural and musical exchange.

The first set features bamboo clapper rap performances based on classic Chinese stories, including Journey to the West and Water Margin. These pieces present traditional narratives in a rhythmic and engaging style that has been part of Chinese performing arts for centuries.

The second set turns to American music, moving from the folk traditions of Virginia to the sounds of California. This section showcases the variety and richness of American musical expression, creating a dialogue with the Chinese repertoire through both contrast and connection

The final set consists of original songs that combine bamboo clapper rap with guitar. With the help of loop station arrangements, these pieces layer rhythm, melody, and voice to create a new kind of performance that reflects both Chinese and American influences.

本次演出将呈现独特的融合表演，结合中国快板、美国音乐，以及通过 Loop Station（循环效果器）的方式将二者巧妙结合。曲目经过精心挑选，旨在展现多元文化与声音的融合之美。整场节目分为三个部分，每一部分都突出了中美文化与音乐交流的多重维度。

第一部分以快板表演为主，改编自中国经典故事，包括《西游记》和《水浒传》。这些作品通过节奏鲜明、极具感染力的形式，展现了中国表演艺术中流传已久的叙事传统。

第二部分转向美国音乐，从弗吉尼亚的民谣传统一路到加州的音乐风貌。这个环节展现了美国音乐的多样性与丰富性，并通过对比与呼应，与中国曲目形成交流。

最后一部分由原创作品组成，将快板与吉他相结合。在循环乐器的帮助下，这些作品把节奏、旋律与人声层层叠加，创造出一种全新的演出形式，体现出中美两种音乐传统的融合与创新。

Bamboo Clapper Rap or Kuaiban is a traditional form of quyi—China’s folk storytelling and performing arts. Characterized by the rhythmic use of bamboo clappers to accompany spoken or chanted verse, it presents stories, poems, and moral lessons in a vivid, engaging style. With its clear rhythms, rhymed narration, and lively performance, bamboo clapper rap has long served both as entertainment and as a vehicle for cultural transmission. In recent years, it has also been adapted into contemporary contexts, creating a bridge between tradition and modern musical expression.

快板是中国传统曲艺的一种表演形式。它以竹板伴奏，配合押韵的说唱或吟诵，生动地演绎故事、诗文与道德寓意。快板节奏明快，语言通俗，表演风格活泼，既具有娱乐性，也长期承担着文化传播的功能。近年来，快板不断与现代音乐元素相结合，成为连接传统与当代的新型艺术表达。

Live Looping is a modern performance technique that uses loop stations to record, layer, and replay sound in real time. With the loop station as a tool, artists can build complex arrangements by recording short segments of voice, instrument, or rhythm and stacking them into rich, multi-layered textures. This method transforms a solo performance into the effect of a full ensemble, offering audiences a dynamic and immersive musical experience.

现场循环（Live Looping）是一种现代音乐表演技术，利用循环效果器（Loop Station）现场实时录制、叠加并回放声音。乐手通过这一工具，可以将人声、乐器或节奏的短片段逐层叠加，构建出复杂而多层次的音乐结构。这种方式使独奏表演呈现出如同完整乐队般的效果，为观众带来动态的沉浸式音乐体验。
