節目介紹大老倌阮兆輝親自領軍
粵劇紅伶聚首一堂盡顯功架 呈現古老排場戲精粹
香港藝術節自九十年代起，便與素來尊重傳統的粵劇大老倌阮兆輝合作，為觀眾帶來多齣經典與新作。為進一步推動粵劇探索，香港藝術節再度與阮兆輝擕手，特別開展為期三年的粵劇演出計畫。除了由他親任藝術總監，向後學傳授粵劇根基外，還邀來三位當今炙手可熱、獨當一面的中生代演員藍天佑、黎耀威及梁煒康並肩策劃。
作為計劃伊始，2025年率先帶來三晚聚焦傳統排場及古腔的演出。
傳統粵劇排場以南派為根本，具有一套固定演出程式，結構嚴謹，戲劇設計環環相扣，配合鑼鼓、身段、唱念做打呈現場景事態，是獨具風格的古老表演藝術形式，發展至今卻瀕臨湮滅失傳。
首晚演出精選經典排場戲：《梨花罪子》武戲文做，是以梆子慢板曲式爲主的傳統戲；《打洞結拜》無論身段及唱腔都極具韻味；《大鬧青竹寺》乃典型的小武應工戲，大顯南派短打套路。由小武及老生（武生）作對手戲的《高平關取級》，特邀資深名伶李龍與阮兆輝搭檔，展現大師級演藝。
《武松》少有以古腔作全本演出，此次阮兆輝親自整理劇本，由藍天佑飾演武松，鄭雅琪及梁非同分飾潘金蓮，黎耀威與譚穎倫分飾西門慶，當今粵劇台柱及新力軍同台較量，精采可期。經典粵劇古本《斬二王》則為「大排場十八本」之一，行當齊全、文武兼備，故事高潮迭起，薈萃多個別具特色的古老排場如〈拗箭結拜〉 、〈 擘網巾〉、〈斬二王〉等。而梁煒康將與阮兆輝分飾司馬揚一角，大顯其唱功及「醉步」功架。三晚的節目皆以中州韻唱念，讓人一窺粵劇古腔之美。
節目 一 — 排場戲專場
數折排場戲經典，展現不同行當精粹。〈梨花罪子〉唱情熱鬧、武戲文做，袍甲功架了得。樊梨花領軍征西涼，其兒子因犯了軍規而被判斬首。此劇包含「元帥登台」、「將士繳令」、「轅門候斬」等表演程式，旦角還須演繹元帥升帳等功架排場及古腔唱功。
〈打洞結拜〉講述趙匡胤在後山發現一名女子遭強盜禁錮，遂救出女子並與之義結為兄妹同行。劇中包含傳統粵劇排場如「配馬」等；唱念亦極具韻味，其中一段「打洞腔」為粵劇旦角專腔，極考唱功。
〈大鬧青竹寺〉講述張奉先出家避禍，遇太子夫婦進青竹寺酬神，小姐和丫鬟卻被寺內花和尚禁錮。張奉先大鬧青竹寺，與花和尚對質。劇中大量粵劇南派短打功架。 本齣戲更特邀名伶文千歲擔任藝術指導。
〈高平關取級〉講述趙匡胤獨闖高平關，取東魯王高行周首級。此折乃粵劇小武與武生首本，是次演出特邀殿堂級粵劇名家李龍與阮兆輝合作演繹。
節目二 —《武松》（古腔全劇）
潘金蓮美艷，卻嫁給了醜夫武大，且家境貧寒，很快生出怨懟。適逢武大弟弟武松因景陽岡打虎名聲大震，獲得捕頭一職，回家拜見兄長。金蓮見武松英俊勇猛，便以情挑逗，被武松嚴詞拒絕。後金蓮與西門慶苟合，被武大撞破，西門慶遂生殺心，與王婆合謀，逼迫金蓮毒死武大。武松歸家後查明兄長被謀害之真相，最終手刃三人，至公堂自首。
節目三 —《斬二王》（古腔全劇）
《斬二王》即《陳橋兵變》，是清朝粵劇「大排場十八本」之一，為廣東早期最著名的古腔粵劇之一。勇士張忠奉命剿除綠林豪傑鄺瑞龍，二人對陣後惺惺相惜，結為兄弟；太子司馬揚敬重兩人勇毅，再結交為異姓兄弟。司馬揚即位後沉溺酒色，鄺瑞龍犯顏直諫，被怒判斬首。鄺瑞龍遺孀張氏與張忠聞訊，興師問罪。司馬揚深悔其禍，承諾痛改前非，他日傳位鄺瑞龍之子，以息眾怒。

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱
The year 2025 marks the beginning of the HKAF’s three-year deep dive into the heart of Cantonese opera, showcasing on stage the timeless grace and treasured essence of the ancient art form. In the first year, audiences can experience a series of thoughtfully curated programmes helmed by Yuen Siu-fai, one of the most esteemed Cantonese opera artists with a versatile career spanning seven decades, and starring three of today’s most sought-after performers: Lam Tin-yau, Keith Lai and Wyborn Leung Wai-hong.
Traditional Cantonese opera 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨 (formulaic) plays dating back to the origins of the art form will be taking centre stage. From the singing style, dialogue delivery through to the 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘤𝘦̀𝘯𝘦, these practices require performers to have acquired a deep understanding of the art form at its core. In the past, Cantonese opera performers underwent rigorous training in the fundamentals of 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨, but this is now less common among the current generation of artists. The opening performance features a comprehensive selection of excerpts, showcasing a diverse range of classic scenes, roles and techniques. This is followed by a rare presentation of the complete version of 𝘞𝘶 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 performed in the ancient style, while the final evening features 𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘶𝘬𝘦’𝘴 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, a compelling story full of theatrical tension. This exciting collection of classics, adapted and refined with full respect for their original formats, offers an exquisite window into the traditional essence and unique artistry of Cantonese opera.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝟭—𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗽𝘁𝘀
This programme comprising zhezixi, meaning Cantonese opera excerpts, will showcase the four essential skills of the art form: singing, recitation, gesturing and martial arts. These four ancient 𝘻𝘩𝘦𝘻𝘪𝘹𝘪 dating back to the Qing dynasty (1644–1911) depict classic scenes: a commander/heroine must execute her son who defies military orders and fails to rescue her second-in-command husband; a mission to rescue a young lady from an immoral monk; and tales of the first Song dynasty (960–1279) Emperor Zhao Kuangyin before he became the ruler of China. This programme will showcase a diverse range of classic scenes, roles and techniques in their full glory.
𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 𝟮—𝗪𝘂 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴 (𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲)
Wu Song, the hero of this story, is a well-known character from the literary classic 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯. Strong enough to defeat a tiger with his bare hands, Wu Song is fiercely loyal to his older brother, Wu Dalong, who in painful contrast is unsophisticated and ungainly in appearance but married to the beautiful Pan Jinlian. When Wu Dalong dies unexpectedly, our hero attempts to seek the truth, confront corrupt officials and wrestle with his filial obligations. In this production, the role of Wu Song is one of nuanced balance between power, righteousness, sorrow, anger, restraint and tact. Expect a masterclass in operatic expression during this revival of the full version of 𝘞𝘶 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨 performed in the ancient classical style.

𝘌𝘹𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘶𝘬𝘦’𝘴 𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 is one of the 18 ancient Cantonese opera paichang, showcasing various elements with a compelling story full of theatrical tension in which an emperor loses his way and executes his loyal sworn brother in a drunken moment. A valuable work of the Southern school of Cantonese opera, it includes classic paichang scenes that are at risk of being forgotten in modern times.
