『チョヨン、海を渡る』は、仮面をまとった存在が舞い、去っていく瞬間に立ち現れる、浄化と再生のための静かな空間を観客とともに探る試みです。本作では、韓国と日本の神話に登場するチョヨン（処容）、能の《翁》と《羽衣》の天人が舞台に現れ、人と神のあわいを行き来する儀礼的な存在として描かれます。仮面は顔を隠すためではなく、神話的な存在へと身を変えるための媒介となり、演者の身体に神聖な時間と気配を呼び込みます。
処容舞の力強さ、翁の静けさ、天人の軽やかさ＿＿受け継がれてきた身体表現は、現代を生きる私たちの感覚の中で新たな意味を結び、観客が自らの内面へ静かに目を向ける時間をひらきます。
本作は、2025年10月にソウルで開催された公演を経て開催される東京公演です。
Cheoyong, Crossing the Sea is an attempt to explore, together with the audience, a quiet space of purification and renewal that emerges in the fleeting moment when a masked presence dances and departs.
In this work, “Cheoyong” from Korean and Japanese mythology appears on stage alongside the Okina from Noh《Okina》and the celestial maiden from 《Hagoromo》. They are portrayed as ritual beings who move between the realms of human and divine. The mask is not used to conceal the face, but serves as a medium of transformation into a mythic presence, inviting sacred time and atmosphere into the performer’s body.
The strength of the Cheoyong dance, the stillness of Okina, and the lightness of the celestial maiden—these inherited forms of embodied expression take on new meaning within our contemporary sensibilities, opening a space in which audiences may quietly turn their gaze inward.
This Tokyo performance follows a staging held in Seoul in October 2025.
