【DX design hub】'From Memory to Horizon' Closing Talk: Rural Revitalization, Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Futures


Join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion as part of the exhibition From Memory to Horizon. Bringing together policy leadership, community practitioners, and creative professionals, this conversation explores the evolving landscape of Hong Kong’s countryside conservation and rural revitalization. From government strategies and institutional support to ground-up cultural preservation and social enterprises, speakers will examine how we can respectfully bridge memory and heritage with future-oriented, sustainable development.

About the Panelists

鄧文彬教授, BBS Professor Stephen TANG, BBS

鄉郊保育辦公室總監 Head, Countryside Conservation Office

建築師,擁有超過四十年建築、城市規劃和設計經驗。他曾擔任建築署副署長和香港城市設計學會會長,致力提升公共建設水平和生活環境質素。在加入鄉郊保育辦公室前,鄧教授曾參與多個本地建築項目及推展城市規劃的協調工作,包括擔任香港故宮文化博物館高級設計顧問、「保育中環」政府建築師及啟德辦事處專員。鄧教授於香港大學建築系畢業,並以客席教授身份任教超過十年,曾於美國加州大學柏克萊分校及北京清華大學進修。他於 2016 年獲授銅紫荊星章,並自2020 年12 月起獲委任香港特區政府環境及生態局鄉郊保育辦公室總監。


An architect with over 40 years of experience in architecture, urban planning and design, he is former Deputy Director of Architectural Services, Past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design. Prior to joining the Countryside Conservation Office, Professor Tang coordinated a number of local architectural projects and urban planning initiatives, including serving as Hong Kong Palace Museum Senior Design Consultant, Government Architect for Conserving Central and Head of the Kai Tak Office. Professor Tang graduated from the University of Hong Kong and taught as a Visiting Professor for over 10 years, and studied at the University of California, Berkeley and Tsinghua University in Beijing. He was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2016 and has been appointed Head of the Countryside Conservation Office of the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the HKSAR Government since December 2020.

Assistant Director, Centre for Civil Society and Governance, The University of Hong Kong

Chick, H.L. Katie is the Assistant Director of the Centre for Civil Society and Governance at the University of Hong Kong. Her academic expertise covers both cultural and nature conservation. She has over 18 years of experience in cultural landscape management and has been the person-in-charge of village revitalization projects in Hong Kong since 2014.


史嘉茵 Ms. Sze Ka Yan

「香村」創辦人
Founder of Fragrant Village

在香港出生及成長,畢業於香港演藝學院科藝學院,主修音響設計及音樂錄音,其後參與蘇格蘭皇家音樂戲劇學院交換生計劃。2014年憑《金龍》提名香港戲劇年獎最佳音樂設計。2024年獲香港藝術發展局海外行政人員獎學金,於Drexel University取得非牟利管理碩士學位,並多次獲資助赴海外進行音樂交流。2021-2023為鄉郊保育辦公室之青年委員。

2016年創立非牟利組織「香村」,連結香港村落的人與事,致力保存鄉村校校歌與歷史,並推動鄉郊藝術的試驗,曾策展《香·校變奏》村校藝術展及《日月同樂:沙頭角跳島藝術遊》,2025年出版《村聲迴響:聆聽香港村校記憶》一書,為香港村校歷史留下註腳。

陳智遠 Mr. Paul Chan Chi-yuen

陳智遠先生擁有獨特的學術及專業背景,涵蓋法律、公共事務與文化領域。陳先生在香港大學取得法律學士及法學專業證書,並獲香港中文大學哲學碩士及倫敦政治經濟學院比較政治碩士。陳先生曾為香港中文大學政治與行政學系兼職講師、香港特區政府食物及衞生局局長政治助理(2008至2012年),以及香港電台的客席主持兼評論員。陳先生現為文化企業活現香港(Walk in Hong Kong)共同創辦人及行政總裁,致力提供深刻難忘的文化旅遊體驗,同時間也積極在香港推動古蹟保育、可持續旅遊及地方營造。

Paul is a cultural entrepreneur with a unique blend of education and experience in law, public affairs and tourism. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the University of Hong Kong, a Master of Philosophy from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Science degree in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

He has a diverse background, having worked as a part-time lecturer at the Department of Government and Public Administration at CUHK, Political Assistant to the Secretary for Food and Health in the HKSAR Government (2008-2012), and a presenter and commentator at Radio Television Hong Kong. Paul is now a Co-founder & CEO of Walk In Hong Kong, a leading cultural enterprise that offers unique walking tours and immersive experiences in the city. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Paul is also a dedicated advocate for heritage conservation, sustainable tourism, and placemaking in Hong Kong.

胡燦森現為香港設計中心業務發展及項目總監,專精於建築、策展及文物保育領域。於香港出生,在英國長大的背景為他帶來獨特的雙文化視角,豐富了他對設計和城市發展的見解。

他的建築事業橫跨二十多年,曾參與中國、英國、美國、阿爾及利亞、意大利、俄羅斯和土耳其等地的項目,涵蓋大型總體規劃、商業發展及歷史建築活化。

在策展方面,胡燦森於2023年為香港設計中心策劃《譜.度.時尚》及《再度時尚》展覽,並聯合策展了《越界》展覽,慶祝香港特別行政區成立25週年。他亦曾擔任2019年港深城市\建築雙城雙年展(香港)總策展人。

胡燦森積極參與專業機構,身兼英國皇家建築師學會會員委員會成員及香港建築師學會規劃及城市設計委員會副主席。他現於香港大學及香港大學專業進修學院任教,此前曾在英國各地建築學院及香港中文大學授課。

2014年至2022年間,胡燦森擔任虎豹音樂基金項目發展執行總監,將歷史建築虎豹別墅活化為促進音樂、文化遺產和藝術跨文化交流的中心。

在香港設計中心,胡燦森運用其跨學科專業知識,建立戰略合作夥伴關係,開發創新項目,鞏固香港作為亞洲創意樞紐的地位。

Roger Wu leads business development and projects at Hong Kong Design Centre, bringing expertise in architecture, curation and heritage conservation. Born in Hong Kong and raised in the UK, his bicultural perspective informs his approach to design and urban development.

His architectural career spans two decades across global markets including China, the UK, US, Algeria, Italy, Russia and Turkey. His portfolio includes master planning, commercial developments and historic building regeneration.

As a curator, Roger shaped notable exhibitions including 2023's "The Full Gamut" and "Re: Full Gamut" for HKDC, and co-curated "Beyond Territories" for HKIA's Urbanism and Architecture Exhibition celebrating Hong Kong SAR's 25th Anniversary. He served as Chief Curator for the 2019 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Hong Kong).

Roger holds key positions in professional bodies, including RIBA's Membership Board Committee and as Deputy Chair of HKIA's Planning & Urban Design Committee. He currently lectures at HKU and HKU Space, having previously taught at architecture schools in the UK and CUHK.

From 2014 to 2022, Roger led project development at Haw Par Music Foundation, transforming the historic Haw Par Mansion into a centre for cross-cultural exchange through music, heritage and arts.

At HKDC, Roger leverages his cross-disciplinary expertise to forge strategic partnerships and develop innovative projects that establish Hong Kong as Asia's creative hub.

DX design hub (the Hub) will resume service within three hours if the signal is cancelled before 2pm; if the signal is cancelled at or after 2pm , the Hub will remain closed for the day.


黑色暴雨警告 Black rainstorm warning:

若本館經已開放,則開放時間維持不變。若黑色暴雨警告在本館開放前經已生效,本館將不會開放,直至黑色暴雨警告除下。倘若除下時距離本館閉館時間不足兩小時,當日將不會開放。

If the warning is issued during normal opening hours, the Hub will remain open.

If the warning is issued before the Hub opens, the Hub will be closed until the warning is cancelled. If the warning is cancelled less than 2 hours before normal closing hours, the Hub will remain closed that day.
