CMKHK presents Shinya Lin Quartet

As part of Shinya Lin’s 2026 Asia Tour, The Quartet+ brings together Hong Kong–based Adam Neutron with New York–based tour members Jonathan Reisin and Hsienwen Chen. The ensemble explores a dynamic electroacoustic practice that creates an extended space incorporating acoustic and electronic sound. Shinya performs with a self-built controller, processing field recordings and sampled material through Max/MSP, while Adam contributes customized amplified instruments and guitar. Jonathan and Hsienwen provide an acoustic foundation on saxophone and drums, creating a constantly evolving dialogue between organic and transformed sound. In this configuration, the quartet crafts immersive sonic landscapes that emphasize texture, resonance, and spectral detail. Electronic sounds emerge from, intertwine with, and occasionally reshape the acoustic gestures of the ensemble, forming shifting layers of timbre and atmosphere. Rather than treating electronics and acoustic instruments as separate elements, The Quartet+ allows them to coexist as a single living sound world, where each gesture influences the next and presence unfolds through attentive listening and interaction.
