Kerstin Rester has been Bernd Hackl's co-trainer on the 7P Ranch for the past decade, and we're delighted to have her coming to Scotland to teach for the very first time! She'll be teaching 1:1 lessons either here at Blackford Glen, or at your yard.
Everyone is welcome! You do not need to be a western rider to take lessons from Kerstin!
Kerstin brings with her a wealth of experience, working with and backing countless youngsters, working with "problem" horses, teaching regular lessons (groundwork and ridden) as well as clinics, demos, judging and teaching extreme trail, etc, etc.
She is fun and empathetic and makes horses, as well as their riders/handlers feel at ease.
She's happy to work with youngsters, helping with backing, teaching groundwork as well as ridden lessons, helping with any problems you may have with your horse, such as crowding your space, napping, trailer loading, etc.
Cost: Lessons are £45, plus 50p/mile outwith a ten-mile radius of EH16 6TP.
Please get in touch if you'd like more information or to book in.

My name is Kerstin Rester. I was born in 1989 and am a passionate horse trainer.
In 2007, I met Bernd, who has taken me under his wing ever since.
As an integral part of the training team, I have been working at the 7P Ranch for the past decade. My responsibilities include backing young horses of all breeds, conditioning more advanced horses, and working with and correcting "problem" horses.
I also teach lessons and clinics regularly, home and away, and share responsibility for the organisation and planning at the 7P Ranch and for the horses in training.
I was born with a passion for horses. As a child, I was allowed to ride ponies every now and then, and when I was 12, my parents let me take regular riding lessons.
I believe that I am very privileged to be leading a truly special life. On every ride, I try to let the horses sense that I am happy and grateful that they are ‘taking me along on their journey’… this is my life, my passion. For me, horsemanship is not just a training method, but a way of life.
Our guiding principle, ‘follow the feel’ – that sense of connection between us – is, for me, what makes our approach to training horses so special. At the 7P Ranch, the mental and physical stability and balance of the horses are our top priority. Before we get involved in the horses’ development, it is important to us to first learn about the horses that are in for training. Their individual character is our main focus.
I, of course, undertake regular further training with other instructors specialising in various riding disciplines and with different areas of focus, such as Alexander Madl, Rolf Janzen, Uwe Röschmann, Jörg Pasternak, Angelika Graf, Ernst-Peter Frey, Helga Rittmann, Cody Deering, Paul Dietz and many others.
Since November 2022, I have been a licensed trainer in Dual Activation and Equikinetic according to Michael Geitner.
I'm looking forward to coming to Scotland and teaching there for the very first time.
