✨ Nicholas Gunn
Nicholas Gunn, a skilled writer and communications coordinator, brings over 5 years of experience working with news media, nonprofits and organizations across Southwest Michigan. From starting as Junior Editor at the Benton Spirit Newspaper to contributing articles for Andrews University, WAUS 90.7 FM, Moody on the Market and the Lake Union Herald, his award-winning work includes accolades such as Mr. Benton Harbor 2022, the Moody on the Market 40 Under 40 Award (as the youngest recipient at age 18), and the Society of Adventist Communicators’ Top Adventist Student Communicator Award in 2024. He also serves on the Michigan Secretary of State’s Collegiate Advisory Task force while serving on boards of multiple community nonprofits around Southwest Michigan.
✨ Ashonti Shaw
Ashonti Shaw, is a communications studies major at Alabama State University, serves as the editor-in-chief of The Hornet Tribune, which is the first recorded effort by black students at an HBCU. With a 3.7 GPA and an associate degree from Lake Michigan College, Shaw is an accomplished journalist who has won awards for her reporting, including a regional journalism award at Troy University. As president of the Society for Collegiate Journalists, she is passionate about enhancing storytelling, innovation, and community impact.
