Help restore Native Biodiversity to “The Sanctuary”, a 30 Hectare ECan Reserve on the banks of the Waimakariri River off Coutts Island Road. Forest and Bird North Canterbury Branch along with ECan Rangers, are planting native trees and plants to provide a habitat and food for native birds, lizards, insects and fish. We would love more volunteers to help with the mahi. The actual planting site will be confirmed when you register with Bruce Craig. The site will also be sign posted on the day on Coutts Island Road.
Register at 9.45am
Make your way to planting site.
Planting 10.00 am to 12 noon.
BBQ to follow provided by ECan.
A quick introduction and planting demonstration will take place at 10.00 am at the planting site. Some spades are available but bring your own if you have one. Bring your own gloves and clothes to suit the weather conditions. The planting sites will have been stripped of vegetation so planting will be relatively easy.
Please stay at home if unwell
Please register for the planting by contacting Bruce Craig at [email protected] or text on 021 027 68961, for catering purposes.
