Moderated by retired KFYR-TV sports director Lee Timmerman, the panel will explore the rich history of basketball in North Dakota, highlighting personal stories, career achievements, and the impact of the sport on local communities.
Timmerman was the longtime TV voice of state high school basketball tournaments and the Dakota Bowl. In 2024, he was inducted into the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame.
The panel will feature an esteemed lineup of North Dakota basketball standouts:
• Lynette (Mund) Johnson–The 1990 Miss Basketball winner from Milnor High School, Johnson played at North Dakota State University, where she was part of three consecutive national championship teams in 1993, 1994, and 1995. All three teams have since been inducted into the Bison Athletic Hall of Fame.
• Angie (Welle) Edinger–The 1997 Miss Basketball winner from Fargo Shanley, Edinger played at Iowa State University and later competed professionally for the WNBA’s Cleveland Rockers. She is also a member of the Iowa State Athletics Hall of Fame.
• Dan Carr–The longtime coach from Linton holds the record as the winningest basketball coach in state history, with more than 800 career victories in his 44-year coaching career.
• Chris Lamoureux–A standout from Newburg High School, Lamoureux was an inaugural co-winner of Mr. Basketball in 1985. He went on to play at Minot State University, where he has been inducted into the Minot State University Athletics Hall of Fame.
The event is free and open to the public; registration is not required. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. All ages are welcome. A cash bar will be available, along with light appetizers.
