The Cherokee Journalism & Printing program is a day to commemorate the past, present, and future of Cherokee news. Its events are a collaboration between the Cherokee Phoenix, the Cherokee Arts Center, the Cherokee National Research Center and the Durbin Feeling Language Center. Attendees can learn about the history of Cherokee journalism, the present-day operations of the Cherokee Phoenix and the future of Cherokee news. At the Cherokee Arts Center, they can join in panel discussions as well as fun printmaking and Cherokee language mad libs activities. At the Cherokee National Supreme Court Museum, visitors can see the history of the earliest Cherokee newspaper up close and learn about the life of Cherokee journalist Wauhillau LaHay. Expert archivists will be discussing special artifacts on display, and visitors can enjoy curator talks at the museum. Food and refreshments will be available to purchase from Kawi Café.
