مُعالجة عربية مُعاصرة لمسرحية "الأولاد الطيبون يستحقون العطف" ل "توم ستوبارد"، حيث يُقدم النص الأصلي نقدًا لاذعًا للحقبة السوفيتية في مطلع القرن العشرين من خلال حكاية مُعتقل مُعارض للنظام ومريض شيزوفرينيا في مستشفى الأمراض العقلية، وصراع ابن المُعارض وما يتعرض له من مواجهات في الحياة بسبب مرض أبيه.
Within a psychiatric hospital in the Soviet Union, the political prisoner Alexander is detained for an indefinite term, his release dependent on a single confession: that his opposition to the regime was merely the result of a mental disorder. He shares
his cell with Ivanov, a schizophrenic patient who believes himself to be a member of a great symphonic orchestra.
Beyond the hospital walls, Sasha, Alexander’s young son, is subjected to persistent attempts at ideological “rehabilitation” by his schoolteacher.
Determined to reshape his thoughts by every possible means, she ultimately turns to violence and torture when his unwavering loyalty to his father’s principles proves unbreakable. Meanwhile, a physician, later revealed to be an officer in the Soviet intelligence service, conducts a calculated psychological campaign against Alexander, relentlessly pressuring him to confess and abandon his convictions.
