לא על הדוב לבדו
לא על הדוב לבדו מבקשת להתבונן מחדש בשפה האמנותית של אלי רבזין דרך המוטיבים והאובייקטים שהפכו לאורך השנים לחלק מה-די-אן-איי החזותי של עבודתו. במרכזה ניצב הדוב, דמות שהחלה כאובייקט תלת־ממדי והפכה בהדרגה למצע טעון, שעליו נבחנים צבע, דימוי, חומר וסימן. במעבר מאובייקט מזוהה לקנבס ייחודי, הדוב מאבד את תפקידו כאיקונה סגורה והופך למרחב פתוח לפרשנות, לשכבות ולווריאציות. בתוך השפה הזו מופיע שוב ושוב האיקס שבעיניים, סימן שהפך למוטיב מזוהה בעבודתו של רבזין. העיניים, שבאופן מסורתי הן המקום שממנו דמות מביטה בצופה, הופכות באמצעות האיקס לנקודת עצירה, מחיקה או הצהרה. כל גוף הופך בכך לנקודת מפגש חד־פעמית בין תכנון, מלאכה והתערבות אמנותית.
המהלך הזה מתקיים גם בכיוון ההפוך. דימויים שהחלו כסימנים דו־ממדיים בתוך עבודתו של רבזין עוברים תהליך של התגשמות והופכים לאובייקטים בעלי נפח, חומר ונוכחות פיזית. הלב, הסמל, האיקס והצורה הגרפית משתחררים מן המישור ומקבלים גוף. המעבר הזה בין שניים לשלושה ממדים הוא חלק מרכזי בפרקטיקה של רבזין: הוא מאפשר לו לבחון כיצד דימוי משתנה כאשר הוא מקבל מסה, כיצד פני שטח הופכים לנרטיב, וכיצד אובייקט תעשייתי לכאורה יכול להפוך ליצירה יחידנית. במקביל, חזרתיותם של הסימנים אינה מבטלת את משמעותם, אלא מאפשרת להם להיטען מחדש בכל חומר, קנה מידה והקשר.
התערוכה אינה מציגה רטרוספקטיבה ליניארית, אלא ארכיון חי של צורות ורעיונות החוזרים אל עצמם בתנאים חדשים. היא חושפת פרקטיקה שנעה בחופשיות בין אמנות רחוב, עיצוב, פיסול וטכנולוגיות ייצור עכשוויות, תוך שמירה על מתח מתמיד בין דיוק תעשייתי לבין עקבות היד והמפגש האנושי. בעבודות אלה אין הבחנה מוחלטת בין המקור להעתק, בין מוצר לאמנות, או בין דימוי לאובייקט. גם האיקס, גם הדוב וגם הלב מתפקדים פחות כסמלים סופיים ויותר כיחידות בתוך מערכת חזותית הנמצאת בתנועה מתמדת. כל יצירה היא חוליה נוספת בתהליך של פירוק, העברה והרכבה מחדש. לא על הדוב לבדו מציעה אפוא לא רק מבט על הדוב, אלא על שיטה אמנותית שלמה: לקחת צורה מוכרת, להוציא אותה מההקשר שלה, ולגלות מה היא יכולה להפוך להיות.
Not by Bear Alone
Not by Bear Alone offers a renewed examination of Eli Revzin’s artistic language through the motifs and objects that have, over the years, become part of the visual DNA of his work. At its center stands the bear, a figure that began as a three-dimensional object and gradually evolved into a charged artistic surface, a site for the exploration of color, image, material, and sign. In its transition from recognizable object to singular canvas, the bear ceases to function as a closed icon and becomes an open space for interpretation, layering, and variation. Within this visual language, the X over the eyes appears repeatedly, becoming a defining motif in Revzin’s work. The eyes, traditionally the point from which a figure meets the gaze of the viewer, are transformed by the X into a moment of interruption, erasure, or declaration. Each body thus becomes a singular point of encounter between design, craft, and artistic intervention.
The same movement takes place in the opposite direction. Images that began as two-dimensional signs within Revzin’s practice undergo a process of materialization, becoming objects with volume, weight, and physical presence. The heart, the symbol, the X, and the graphic form are released from the plane and given a body. This transition between two and three dimensions is central to Revzin’s practice, allowing him to examine how an image changes when it acquires mass, how a surface can become narrative, and how an apparently industrial object can become a singular work of art. At the same time, the repetition of these signs does not diminish their meaning. Instead, it allows them to be continually recharged through changes in material, scale, and context.
The exhibition does not present a linear retrospective, but rather a living archive of forms and ideas returning to themselves under new conditions. It reveals a practice moving freely between street art, design, sculpture, and contemporary modes of fabrication, while maintaining a constant tension between industrial precision and the traces of the hand and human encounter. Within these works, there is no fixed distinction between original and reproduction, product and artwork, or image and object. The X, the bear, and the heart function less as final symbols than as units within a visual system in continual motion. Each work becomes another link in an ongoing process of dismantling, transferring, and reconstructing. Not by Bear Alone therefore offers not simply a view of the bear, but a view of an entire artistic method: taking a familiar form, removing it from its established context, and discovering what else it might become.
