Welcome to an author talk with Åsne Seierstad (NO) and Erkka Mikkonen (FI), where the two Nordic journalists share their experiences from today's Russia.
As other reporters are called home from wartime Russia, Norwegian journalist Åsne Seierstad travels there. Join her as she reflects on the current state of the country through her book Ufred – Russland fra innsiden (Never Say War: Life in Russia Today).
Seierstad is known for her work as a war correspondent and has previously reported from Afghanistan, Iraq and Chechnya. In this conversation, she is joined by Erkka Mikkonen, a foreign affairs journalist and former Moscow correspondent for Yle. Mikkonen also offers insights from his own book Homona Putinin Venäjällä (Gay in Putin’s Russia).
The discussion will be held in English and will be accompanied by readings from Seierstad’s work in both Norwegian and Finnish.
The event is a collaboration with Gummerus, the publisher behind the Finnish translation of the book in question, Rauhattomuus – Venäjä sisältä käsin, translated by Onerva Kuusi.
