Շուրիշկանի հրաշագործ ԱվետարանՀայոց պատմության մեջ բազում վկայություններ կան փրկության ուղի անցած Ավետարանների ու ձեռագիր մատյանների մասին, որոնցից է Շուրիշկանի հրաշագործ Ավետարանը։
Ավանդազրույցը պատմում է, որ Շուրիշկանի Ավետարանը, որ հայտնի է նաև «Պապ», «Կարմիր», «Սուրբ Բարսեղ Կեսարացի» անուններով, գրվել է 1498թ․ Վասպուրականի Քաջբերունի գավառի Ասպիսնակ գյուղում։ Պատվիրատուն՝ Թուրուանդ իշխանն է, գրիչը՝ Բարսեղ քահանան։
Հայերի 1603-1604թթ. բռնագաղթի ժամանակ Ավետարանը տեղափոխվում է Պարսկաստանի Փերիա գավառի Շուրիշկան գյուղ՝ Սբ․ Բարսեղ Կեսարացու վանք: Հնարավոր վտանգներից պաշտպանելու նպատակով Ավետարանը թաղում են հողի մեջ։
Որոշ ժամանակ անց հողատակ թաքստոցից աղբոյւր է բխում՝ գոյացնելով լճակ: Սուրբ գիրքը դուրս է բերվում միայն յոթ տարի անց՝ աստվածային զորությամբ մնալով գրեթե անվնաս։
Երեք ու կես դար անց՝ 1973թ.-ին, մեծ ոդիսական ունեցող Շուրիշկանի Ավետարանը հայրենադարձ Մատթեոս Ծառուկյանը նվիրաբերում է Մատենադարանին։ Այդպիսով, միջնադարյան մշակույթի գանձարանի նմուշից ճառագող լույսն ու զորությունը փոխանցվում է սերնդե սերունդ։
Խնդրակատար Ավետարանին հաղորդակցվելու և զորություն ստանալու հասցեն մեկն է՝ Մատենադարան, որտեղ և հատուկ ցուցափեղկում ընդամենը մեկ ամիս կցուցադրվի Սուրբ Գիրքը։

Shurishkan Miraculous Gospel
Armenian history bears numerous testimonies to sacred Gospels and manuscripts that have traversed extraordinary paths of preservation, among which the Shurishkan Miraculous Gospel occupies a place of particular distinction.
According to tradition, the Gospel of Shurishkan — known also by the names "Grandfather, " "Red Gospel", and "Saint Barsegh of Caesarea" — was transcribed in 1498 in the village of Aspısnak, located in the Kajberunik canton of Vaspurakan. The patron of the manuscript was Prince Turuand, and the scribe was the priest Barsegh.
During the forced deportation of Armenians in 1603–1604, the Gospel was transferred to the village of Shurishkan in the Feria province of Persia, to the Monastery of Saint Barsegh of Caesarea. In order to protect it from potential threats, the Gospel was buried in the ground.
Some time thereafter, a spring emerged from the place of concealment, forming a small lake. The sacred manuscript was taken out only seven years later, having remained virtually undamaged through what is regarded as divine providence.
Three and a half centuries later, in 1973, the Gospel of Shurishkan — having endured a remarkable odyssey — was donated to Matenadaran by repatriate Matteоs Tsarukyan. In this way, the light and the spiritual power emanating from this treasure of medieval culture have been transmitted from generation to generation.
Those who wish to commune with this Miraculous Gospel and partake of its spiritual power may do so at one location: Matenadaran, where the sacred manuscript will be displayed in a dedicated showcase for a period of one month only.
