Why book a short session?
Shorter sessions are ideal for absolute beginners who are bewildered by fly fishing but have always fancied giving it a try. There’s no need to buy any tackle - its included in the lesson fee. As is your fishing permit fee. So it couldn’t be any more cost effective.
Shorter sessions are also great for Intermediate level anglers who want to concentrate on improving casting or focus on a specific method. A quick hit for people who simply want to catch more fish.
Most of my time is spent doing full day/half day lessons, but these shorties have their place, so I aim to do 4 days per month.
The drawback is you have to tie in with the given day and session time. With full days you have a say on what day we do.
What should the lesson be about?
That’s up to you. The most standard format would be a general fishing session with suggestions as we go. Its really flexible though.
Please don’t be worried about making a fool of yourself. Everyone starts with a first step. Its normal to make mistakes and not understand everything. Thats why I’m doing what I’m doing.
Shorter Sessions Rules
- Selected dates and times only.
- Must be pre-booked and pre-paid. Don’t turn up without booking please.
- Price includes fishing permit and ALL tackle will be provided at no extra cost. (Rods and reels supplied by Cadence Fly Fishing). Your ticket will be catch and release. If you want to take a trout home to eat, these will be charged extra at a rate per pound. There is no extra charge for lost tackle.
- Lesson is for one person only. Couples an additional 15% on stated fee. 2 people maximum. No groups.
- No family or friends to accompany anglers during lessons unless accompanying adult or carer.
- You will need a day fishing licence if an adult. This is bought online at the gov.uk website and will cost £7+ For those under 13, you do not need a rod licence. For those age 13-17 you need to register for licence, but it is free.
- No shows are not refundable unless cancelled at least 48hrs beforehand.
- Anglers must bring eye protection in the form of glasses and a hat/cap for protection from hooks. These are essential and not using them is done entirely at your own risk.
- You must make us aware of any special requirements in the form of physical or mental issues that may effect the lesson. For example, physical injuries, autism, ADHD.
- Your session will start at the given time whether you are there or not. If you arrive late, you lose that time from your lesson unless it can be made up in the gap between lessons.
-All juniors MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times who must also have protective glasses and hat.
-Payment of your fee is acceptance of these conditions.
