ABOUT ME:
I’m Krissy, a social dancer at heart who fell for Brazilian zouk, enjoying it for over a decade and teaching with various schools while based in London. In recent years, I’ve been exploring movement meditation practices such as Qi Gong, grounding and free flow dance, and have discovered how beautifully they complement the unique energy of this dance style, all while helping me return to presence amidst motherhood and during my screen-heavy day as a software engineer. I can’t wait to share these insights with you all!

Q&A:
> What should I bring?
Comfortable clothing you can move in, water to stay hydrated, and an open mind! You’re welcome to wear dance shoes, socks or move barefoot. There will be an option to lay on the floor at some point so bring a mat if you prefer.
> Do I need to have experience or certain abilities to join?
The workshop will involve gentle movement practices, mostly while standing, with the option to lay on the floor during wind-down. It’s especially relevant for people who have danced Brazilian Zouk or similar styles before but is designed to be gentle and accessible for all experience levels, even if you’re new to dance. You’re encouraged to take this at your own pace and respect the unique boundaries of your body.
> Do I need a partner, and is this for both leaders and followers?
The workshop does not require a partner and focuses on your individual dance experience. It’s open to anyone curious about exploring mindfulness through Zouk-inspired movements. While some elements will embrace the flow and styling of Zouk follower structures, we’ll also explore universal concepts like weight transfer, grounding, breath work, and touch.
> What if I feel self-conscious dancing alone?
Perfect - this is exactly why you should come! This aims to be a safe, judgement-free space where everyone is focused on their own experience and supporting each other. There’s no pressure to perform; it’s all about finding joy in movement for yourself.
> Disclaimer:
This workshop is a casual and personal sharing of Zouk-inspired mindfulness practices. It is not a form of therapy, counselling, or professional advice.
