Event Overview

We will meet at 11.30am for a morning coffee in the award-winning Stables Café , before heading off through the beautiful grounds of Knightshayes, along a country lane to have a tasty lunch at the Lost Kitchen at 1pm.

After lunch we will walk back to Knightshayes.

You then have the option of joining us to explore the garden at Knightshayes*, home to one of the most extensive plant collections to be found in the care of the National Trust. With a walled kitchen garden, terraces, Paved Garden and the Garden in the Wood. Relax in the south garden, or take a walk around the arboretum.

* National Trust entrance: Free for National Trust members, £16.50 for non-members

Parking fees:
Free for National Trust members (don’t forget to get a ticket for your windscreen). Non-members pay £1.10 for one hour, £2.20 for two hours, £3.30 for three hours, or £4.40 for the whole day. Car parking machines only accept cash, but you can also pay by card at reception or via the PayByPhone app

About Knightshayes

The house is a rare example of the work of William Burges, whose lavish designs have always inspired extremes of opinion. Full of quirks and curiosities, it is a house of many faces.

The formal and woodland garden is one of the finest and most varied plant collections in the country. With over 1200 plant species unique to Knightshayes and an ever changing display, it’s always worth a visit, as is the walled kitchen garden, brimming with seasonal produce for the Stables Café.

Out in the parkland, there are woodland walks, acres of tenanted farmland (home to our tenant farmers Exmoor Horn sheep).

About The Lost Kitchen

The Lost Kitchen has become known for serving up delicious wood-fired food in Devon. Having some of the best local ingredients, and offer seasonal food within a modern European menu, along with a welcoming, informal and relaxed restaurant celebrates seasonal food and wood-fired cooking. The feasting barn has beautiful views and terrace garden to dine on, set in the hamlet of Chettiscombe amongst the rolling hills of Mid-Devon.
