We have something very special happening this Summer Solstice, which also happens to be kicking off the LOW MARGATE Music & Wine Weekender on the 21st of June!Zero 7’s new project SWIM SURREAL and their debut album ‘In The Half Light’ is released on the 21st June, they will also be digging out some of their favourite records for two special DJ sets - one perfectly timed to the sunset (from 8pm) which celebrates their new album and then a second Club DJ set later on.
Zero 7’s debut album Simple Things was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize and sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. Over the ensuing eight years, they recorded a further three albums, including Grammy Nominated The Garden. More recently, they have released a series of singles and EPs on their own Make Records imprint featuring artists including José Gonzáles, Jem Cooke and Lou Stone.
Local talent Ben Sun (see how we curated?!) will be on the support! A Margate-based artist fusing analog frequencies and crushed samples to create vivid, atmospheric dance music. Frequently exploring ambient and pop tendencies. Recent EPs for London's Phonica Records and NYC's Razor-N-Tape earned him praise from luminaries like Laurent Garnier, Glenn Underground and Osunlade, as well as mainstay selectors such as Cinthie,
Midland and Greg Wilson.
