Zabumba Workshop with Biano Lima: Forró Rhythms and Modern Explorations
In this special edition, Biano Lima invites you to dive into the world of the Zabumba, exploring not only the traditional rhythms of Forró but also creative new possibilities with this iconic instrument.
The Zabumba is essential to Forró rhythms, providing the foundation and pulse that bring styles like Coco, Xaxado, and Xote to life. It is played with two distinct drumsticks: the birro, a thicker stick that produces deep, resonant sounds, and the bacalhau, a thinner stick that highlights the sharp, dynamic beats.

Traditional Forró Rhythms: Learn the beats of Forró, each with its own unique energy and character.
Breaks and Pauses: Discover how to create smooth and dynamic transitions, maintaining the rhythm’s essence while adding modern touches.
Contemporary Experimentation: Explore how the Zabumba can blend with other genres and create innovative arrangements.
