Local independent Hip Hop artist and painter, Z-man, joins us for a live performance and signing at Amoeba SF on Friday, March 6th at 5pm! Bringing together raw lyricism, dynamic stage presence, and hometown energy for an unforgettable live experience, the performance will include Bay Area artists Lil Flower Nasti, D-Wiz, Cait La Dee, DJ Pause, Tahaj the First, and Sick YG.This is a free, all-ages event. Purchase his album "Animal Slavery" at Amoeba SF to attend the signing portion of the event.
"Animal Slavery" is a long-time passion project from Z-man, born out of his commitment to raising awareness about animal rights, cruelty, and veganism. Tahaj the First's production inspired some of the topics of these songs. The album’s soundscape is intentionally shaped by the weight and urgency of its subject matter, blending thought-provoking lyricism with dynamic, immersive production.
Throughout the project, Z-man explores themes of compassion, consciousness, and ethical responsibility while maintaining the energy, creativity, and conceptual depth that has defined his previous releases. With "Animal Slavery," he aims to inform and inspire, delivering a powerful message that resonates deeply without ever feeling preachy.
Z-man is also a painter and illustrator with a broad body of acrylic on canvas paintings in a cartoon animated surrealist style with vibrant, bold color schemes, characters, and creatures that reference black and Hip Hop culture. He paints all of his album covers, designs his logos and t-shirt art, and paints and designs covers for other artists. Z-man is a Renaissance man dedicated to the arts and is a frequent collaborator and member of Gurp City collective.
