Yuma County Office of Emergency Management will conduct the 24 hour CERT Basic Course on March 4, 5, 6, 2025 each day at 800 am -500pm. This would be a great class for people who wish to be better prepared or may encounter situations similar to our training.

Disaster Preparedness: Community Preparedness: Roles and Responsibilities, Hazards and Their Potential Impact, Home and Workplace Preparedness, Reducing the Impact of Hazards Through Mitigation, CERT Disaster Response

Disaster Medical Operations: Treating Life – Threating Conditions, Basic First Aid Care, Disaster Medical Operations, Mass Casualty Incidents, Functions of Disaster Medical Operations, Establishing Medical Treatment Areas, Conducting Head-to-Toe Assessments, Public Health Considerations

Disaster Psychology: Disaster Reactions, Self-Care and Team Well-Being, Working with Survivors’ Emotional Responses

Fire Safety and Utility Controls: Fire Chemistry, Fire Size-up Considerations, Firefighting Resources, Fire Suppression Safety, Fire and Utility Hazards, Hazardous Materials

Light Search and Rescue Operations: Safety During Search and Rescue Operations, Conducting Interior and Exterior Search Operations, Conducting Rescue Operations

CERT and Terrorism: Terrorist Goals and Tactics, Preparing Your Community, Active Shooter Situations, Until Help Arrives, Hazmat and CBRNE

CERT students will participate in a Disaster Simulation as a team.
