Get ready to slice, spice, and simmer! Join us for a fun, hands-on evening where we’ll dive into the world of comfort food with a healthy twist. In this workshop, we’re mastering Chili Three Ways—showing you how versatile, delicious, and budget-friendly hearty cooking can be.

Whether you’re a fan of the classics or looking for something new, you’ll help prepare three distinct recipes:
- Classic Vegetarian Chili: Hearty and familiar, featuring Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP) as an affordable and satisfying protein source.
- Creamy White Bean Chili: A beautifully smooth, mild, and flavourful white chili.
- Sweet Red Lentil Chili: A unique, slightly sweet twist on the classic that highlights the power of lentils.
We’ll focus on building big flavours using simple ingredients while chatting about the amazing health benefits of legumes (beans and lentils). Bring your appetite, your creativity, and your friends for a night of skill-building and great food!

Date: Wednesday, January 28
Time: Doors open at 5:30 PM, workshop begins at 6:00 PM
Location: Growing Chefs Headquarters, London, Ontario – https://www.growingchefs.ca
Target Audience: This workshop is for youth aged 12 to 25.

This beginner-friendly workshop is all about creativity, individuality, and tasty food — no cooking experience needed!

In this workshop, you will:
- Icebreakers & The Legume Lowdown: Kick off the night by getting to know each other and learning about the nutritional "superpowers" of beans and lentils—and why they are such a budget-friendly way to fuel your body.
- Meet your station & connect: Head to your prep station and get settled in the kitchen with your team.
- Master the Three-Way Chili: Work together to prep three different recipes, learning how to use TVP for texture and how to balance sweet and savoury flavours in a pot.
- Customize your bowl: Once the chili has simmered to perfection, visit our topping station to add those finishing touches that make the dish your own.
- Dig in & reflect: Share the meal you helped prepare with the group. We’ll discuss the different flavour profiles, compare the three styles, and reflect on the new skills you’ve gained.

What you’ll need:
- Your appetite and enthusiasm!
- All ingredients, tools, and materials are provided.
- Bring a container if you want to take home leftovers.
- Closed-toe shoes appropriate for indoors (please change out of winter boots to help keep our space clean and safe).
- A hair tie or clip to secure long hair during food preparation.
Bringing a friend, sibling, or support person? Awesome — just let us know when you register so we can plan ahead.

This workshop is completely FREE! However, any donations made at checkout are appreciated and go directly towards funding future workshops.
