About this Event

In this blended training model, participants complete a 2-hour self-paced online course then and participate in a 6 hour Instructor-led training. The Instructor-led Training will be held in person in Nashville, TN.

About Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA)

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.

Particpants will learn how to respond with the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE).

WHAT IT COVERS Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD). • Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges. • How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis. • How to connect the youth with help. • Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying.

About F&CS MHAT program

The Family & Children’s Service (F&CS) Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) program provides evidence-based trainings focused on mental health and substance use awareness and suicide prevention. Our goal is to empower individuals with the understanding, language, and tools necessary to recognize and respond to mental health crises.
