You are invited to participate in a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training program conducted by Cristin Marshall from the Cortland County Mental Health Department. The purpose of this training is to improve your knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to youth mental health. Your participation in this training is voluntary. Training Procedures:
If you agree to participate in this YMHFA training, you will be asked to:
Complete a pre-training questionnaire to assess your baseline mental health literacy, attitudes towards mental health, and confidence in assisting youth with mental health concerns.
Attend the YMHFA training course.
Complete a post-training questionnaire immediately after the YMHFA training to assess changes in mental health literacy, attitudes, and confidence.
Track youth mental health referrals you make using a referral form after receiving the training
Date and Time: The training will be held in-person on Tuesday July 2, 9am-5pm.

Delivery Format:
Your participation in this training will take approximately 8 hours, including the time required to complete the questionnaires, attend the in-person YMHFA training course, and track referrals.
This course will teach you how to apply the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan (ALGEE)
Assess for risk of suicide or harm.
Listen nonjudgmentally.
Give reassurance and information.
Encourage appropriate professional help.
Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
