Youth Basketball Skills Camp

Train with Savannah State University players and build ball handling, shooting, defensive & passing skills to help improve basketball IQ!
About this Event

Join us for an exciting day of basketball instruction by Savannah State University basketball players, skill development, and fun at the Tominac Fitness Center on Hunter Army Airfield! This camp is designed to help young athletes improve their basketball fundamentals, build confidence, and develop a greater love for the game.

Event Details:

Session 1: Open to grades 3-5
9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Check-in starts at 8:30 AM

Session 2: Open to grades 6-8
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Check-in starts at 10:30 AM

Registration is FREE and limited to the first 40 participants per session. Registration closes August 15, 2026, or when capacity is reached.

Who Can Participate?

Children of Active Duty Service Members, Retirees, and DoW Civilians

Students currently in 3rd through 8th grade

Please Note: High school students are not eligible to participate due to NCAA regulations.

What to Expect:
Camp instruction will be led entirely by student-athletes from Savannah State University's basketball programs. Participants will receive hands-on coaching focused on:

1. Ball handling
2. Shooting fundamentals
3. Passing skills
4. Defensive techniques
5. Basketball IQ and game awareness
6. Confidence building and teamwork

Following skill development drills, campers will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a fun round-robin style 3-on-3 competition.

Participant Recognition:
Each camper will receive a printed certificate of participation. Additional giveaways may be awarded within both age groups.
