Book: A Child’s Introduction to the Orchestra by Robert Levine
Embark on a musical adventure for the whole family with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Family Series. Tailored to ignite the imaginations of kids aged 2-12, these sensory-friendly matinee concerts provide a joyful introduction to the world of orchestral magic. Led by conductor Troy Webdell, the Family Series offers an immersive and entertaining experience, where children can explore the wonders of classical music in a family-friendly environment. Adding to the excitement, a preconcert performance by the Youth Orchestra’s Premier Quartet will set the stage, followed by a special 'Meet a Musician' feature after the concert, offering children a chance to engage with the performers. From timeless classics to contemporary compositions, each concert promises to be an engaging and delightful journey, creating lasting memories and fostering a lifelong love for music in our young audience members.
This concert seeks to welcome all, including individuals with sensory sensitivities and diverse abilities. We provide the following resources: social story PDF/video, sign language interpreter, narrator, calming area, preconcert activities, sensory fidgets, and noise-cancelling headphones (while supplies last), and a feedback survey for patrons to share their thoughts.
