About this Event
Join us for a piano recital organized by the Liszt Institute New York featuring the talented young pianist, Soma Balázs-Piri taking place at the Consulate General of Hungary in New York on November 25, at 5:30PM.
Soma Balázs Piri is a 21 year old pianist who despite his young age has attained global success and several first prizes in prestigious international piano competitions, including the world-renowned Bartók Competition. In 2018, he took first place in the European Virtuosos classical music talent show. In 2020, Soma was named the Young Ambassador of Hungarian Classical Music. In 2021 he received the Hungarian award for young artists, the "Junior Prima Award". During 2022 Soma was admitted to the Mozarteum University in Salzburg (Austria), where he continues his studies.
Soma has performed at prestigious venues in Budapest, London, Strabourg, Dubai, Qatar, Singapore, the Lincoln Center in New York, and Washington, just to name a few. Notably, he portrayed young Mozart in the production "Amadeus: Life in Pictures.
Soma has performed with renowned opera singer/conductor Placido Domingo several time, plus published a studio recording with him too.
Performing with the world-renowned cellist HAUSER several times in O2 Arena London & in Singapore, Soma gained further international recognition.
He performed with several orchestras, including the London Mozart Players, the Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Concerto Budapest, and the OMM Orchestra (Singapore). In addition to being an excellent classical concert pianist, he is regularly composing music and plays in other music genres as well.
