Young Eagles Rally
FREE Plane Rides for Kids
Mason City-- Area youth ages 8-17 will have a chance to take to the skies at the Mason City Airport on the morning of Saturday, June 20 as part of a Young Eagles flight rally.
The Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These 15 to 20 minute flights are free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member pilots and volunteers. EAA is a worldwide association of people interested in aviation and is headquartered in Oshkosh, WI. The Young Eagles program has flown over 2.4 million kids.
Following the flight each young person will receive a Young Eagles certificate and logbook,. Each Young Eagle is eligible for an EAA Student membership which includes a free pilot ground school, eligibility for a free flight lesson, an electronic copy of the EAA Sport Aviation magazine and more.
The rally will be held from 8 am to 11 am on Saturday, June 20 at the Mason City Airport. The youth’s parent must register them and provide a written signature for the ride. Parents can learn more about the program and register their children for the rides at Mason City at eaachapters.org. Parents may also register their children onsite at the event. The rides are dependent upon having very good weather on rally day. Those with questions may contact Denise at 507-402-7259.
