What to expect at auditions:
Auditions will be divided into Kindergarten - 1st grades and 2nd - 9th.
Those in Kindergarten and 1st grades will only be eligible for chorus parts and are not expected to prepare anything for auditions. Their auditions will consist of short theater games in groups.

2nd - 9th grades are eligible to audition for all characters. Auditions will consist of cold readings from a provided script and a vocal audition. Participants are encouraged to prepare one of the show-related audition songs (details at: https://www.evergreentheater.org/disneys-the-lion-king-jr.html
Participants may prepare a different song but it should be limited to no longer than 1 minute in total length.

There are 3 songs to choose from. For each song, we have provided you the sheet music, a vocal track, and an instrumental track for your practice and audition. Please note, tracks are mp4s and will require a video software.
All participants are asked to register for an audition time. Walk-ins will be accommodated as time permits

The Story:
​The Lion King Jr is the story of Simba, an adventurous and energetic lion cub who is next in line to be king of the Pridelands, a thriving and beautiful region in the African savanna. Simba's father, Mufasa, is killed by his uncle, Scar though Scar leads Simba to believe it was his fault and encourages him to run away forever. Scar seizes power and the Pridelands become a dark, desolate place under his rule. Only Simba can save the animals of the kingdom.
The Characters:
Rafiki: a mysterious and wise mandrill
Mufasa: a lion, kind of the Pridelands, Simba's father
Sarabi: a lioness, queen of the Pridelands, Simba's mother
Zazu: a hornbill, Mufasa's loyal yet fretful attendant
Scar: A lion, Mufasa's jealous brother
Young Simba / Simba: a curious, eager lion who will one day be king
Young Nala / Nala: a spunky, brave lioness and Simba's best friend
Sarafina: a lioness, Nala's mother
Bazai: a scruffy hyena who serves Scar
Shenzi: a tough hyena who serves Scar
Ed: an aloof hyena who serves Scar
Timon: a sarcastic, outgoing meerkat who lives in the jungle
Pumba: a gentle, kind-hearted warthog and Timon's best friend
Lionesses: the female lions who provide for the Pridelands by hunting
Hyenas: stinking, mangy animals who live outside the Pridelands
Ensemble: additional animals of the Pridelands, including wildebeests, giraffes, elephants, gazelles, zebras, birds, etc

Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will begin June 15 and run on the following schedule:
June 15 - 25; 7:00 - 8:00pm | Mondays - Thursdays
June 29 - July 2; 5:00 - 8:00pm | Mondays - Thursdays
July 6 - 9; 5:00 - 7:00pm | Mondays - Thursdays
July 13 - July 30; 5:00 - 7:00pm | Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays ONLY
August 3 - 12; 5:00 - 7:00pm | Mondays - Thursdays
Additional Saturday rehearsal will be held on July 25; 9:00 - 11:30am
